the Wish Book
In “Nate’s Story: What It’s Like to Have Leukemia,” Nate Richard records his life through pictures after he was diagnosed at 5 years old with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common form of
childhood cancer. Nate shares what it is like to be in the hospital, get chemotherapy treatments, and lose your hair. He offers encouragement that there can still be good days in spite of the difficulties of battling cancer. Nate’s personality shines through as he shares his experiences and gives a real-life view of what a child with cancer may experience. It is Nate’s wish that sharing his story will help other children like him who have to face a serious illness.
